STRAND WOVEN BAMBOO FLOORING


Strand woven bamboo flooring is one of the most recent bamboo flooring materials in the market place today. Resilient enough for commercial wear settings, yet beautiful enough to adorn the finest homes with the colours and appeal of traditional hardwood. This floor is great for homes with very active children or pets, it endures much more punishment than your average wood flooring.

With strand woven, bamboo strips are thrashed, woven, bundled, and pressed into a compact block. The top 1/3rd of the poles which were previously wasted and burned are now used in the manufacturing process, greatly increasing raw material yield while reducing site pollution and waste.

The strips are boiled in water and boric acid solution to remove sugars, a termite attraction, and to inhibit fungus and mold growth. They are then kiln dried, woven with dynea, an extremely low voc plasticizer from Finland and then compressed with heat under intense pressure to form a compact block. The block is then sliced into 6 foot long flooring planks and milled with an exact fitting 4 sided tongue and groove, a slight micro bevel edge giving definition to each plank.

After milling, the boards are coated with 2 layers of waterproof coatings+2 layers undercoat+1 abrasion resistance paint +2 finishing coats of TREFFERT aluminum oxide and UV cured. It is important to note that unlike other bamboo flooring that is created by cold-gluing a series of strips together, strand woven bamboo material is a one piece board. This results in a product that is beautiful, practical, competitive, and environmentally friendly.

Strand woven bamboo flooring comes in two colors, natural and carbonized, a coffee color. The color goes all the way through the board.
